I wasn't prepared for the concrete to look so old. They looked like they’d been baked in the sun for far too long, in fact, the oldest mirror is close to a hundred years old. They were all built between the two world wars and quickly rendered obsolete when radar arrived and took over the job of warning of approaching planes from across the English Channel. There are more sites, dotted up the east coast of the UK but this is the largest single collection I’m aware of.
